The Sonora Pass Expedition

It’s time to stretch the legs of our V8s and precision-tuned machines with an unforgettable club cruise up our own backyard masterpiece: Highway 108 over the magnificent Sonora Pass. With winter finally behind us and Caltrans having cleared the tarmac all the way to the summit, the high country is officially open and calling our name. This run is the perfect opportunity to clear out the carbon, bond with fellow members, and let our Corvettes do exactly what they were engineered to do on some of the finest mountain roads in California. Our route will take us from the rolling foothills of Sonora into a driver’s paradise, tracking the rushing waters of the Stanislaus River as the pine forest deepens. We’ll make a collective detour down Clark Fork Road to experience the raw power of the spring snowmelt, followed by a casual regrouping stop at the historic Kennedy Meadows Resort to stretch and swap stories. From there, the real driving begins. As we push past the tree line, the road transforms into a technical wonderland of steep ascents, hairpin turns, and dramatic sweeping switchbacks, challenging your line and rewarding you with the intoxicating roar of American exhaust notes echoing off sheer granite walls. At a breathtaking 9,624 feet, the Sonora Pass summit offers unparalleled panoramic vistas of the Emigrant Wilderness and the snow-dusted Sierra peaks. We will pull over at the crest to capture an epic club lineup photo right where the Pacific Crest Trail intersects the highway—a visual showcase of sleek fiberglass and aggressive styling against a rugged, high-alpine backdrop. Whether you’re piloting a classic generation or tapping into the track-bred engineering of a mid-engine masterpiece, this cruise promises incredible views, tight-knit camaraderie, and an exhilarating day of pure driving bliss. Dust off the radar detectors, check your tire pressures, and get ready for an exceptional day on the Pass!
